Guidelines if you're going to the NFL concert
The NFL has announced more specifics for the Opening Kickoff Concert with the Black-Eyed Peas and Tim McGraw tomorrow at Point State Park.
The park will be closed noon to 4 p.m. At 4, fans may enter at the corner of Commonweatlh Place and Liberty Ave. The Fort Duquesne Bridge will be closed as a pedestrian entrance Thursday.
"Backpacks, packages and persons will be subject to inspection" at security checkpoints, the NFL said. Prohibited items listed were: weapons, alcohol, glass containers, fireworks, chairs, tents, barbecue grills, umbrellas, blankets, food and beverages. There will be food and beverage concessions inside the park. No pets; only service animals allowed.
There's no parking on Commonwealth Place from Fort Duquesne Boulevard to Fort Pitt Boulevard on both sides of the street through Friday. Commonwealth Place from Fort Duquesne Boulevard to Liberty Avenue will be closed 10 a.m. Thursday to midnight Friday.
Fans parking at Heinz Field before the game can cross the Roberto Clemente Bridge for access to Point State Park.
Harry Connick Jr. will sing the national anthem at Heinz Field before the Steelers face off against the Tennessee Titans. The concert will be broadcast 8-8:30 p.m. on NBC and the NFL Network, and the season opener will be aired starting at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
