The first time he ran past his wife near the Boston Marathon’s halfway mark, Ed Feather felt his heart swell and shouted his love.
But the Wellesley home that once provided her race vantage point has been sold by the couple’s friends, and she’s no longer around to watch.
“I think it’s going to be hard,” the Framingham marketing strategist said recently, thinking about his emotional course milestone shortly before running Boston a third time. “I think the whole race is going to be hard.”
Hard, but also exciting, he thinks — another chance to honor Sarah and encourage their two children, Whit, 9, and Avery, 7.
After all, it was the kids’ impromptu cancer-fighting, driveway fundraiser that motivated Feather to race again. And it was Sarah and her plight that prompted the casual jogger to ever consider a marathon — let alone three Bostons.
