Harry Connick Jr. is no stranger to Greenville audiences.

Polasek Date: July 8, 2013 Those who came to Connick’s concert at the Peace Center on Saturday night expecting a program filled with Connick’s smooth, crooning ballads, however, may have been surprised at the raucous, funk-heavy show. Although there were a few slower moments, like a medley of standards from his soundtrack to “When Harry Met Sally,” and a selection of songs from his latest album, “Every Man Should Know,” the majority of the numbers invoked the high-octane brassy jazz of Connick’s native New Orleans. Backed by a 14-piece band, Connick sang, played piano, wailed on the trumpet, and even took to the bongos and conga drums, displaying a boundless energy that infected the crowd throughout the performance.
