Harry Connick will be singing 'Your Songs'

Mega crooner Harry Connick Jr. performs with his 15-piece band at the Peace Concert Hall Friday night in a sold-out concert that shares the title of his latest CD, "Your Songs." Released in 2009, the project teams Connick with Clive Davis, the legendary American record producer and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As a result, the album features an eclectic mix of American jazz standards, Broadway gems and iconic Beatles, Elton John and Billy Joel songs. And so will the concert. Get ready to melt to everything from “Besame Mucho” and “Some Enchanted Evening” to “And I Love Her,” “Your Song” and “Just the Way You Are.” The 43-year-old New Orleans native was surrounded by jazz and art growing up in the Big Easy. Connick’s star-studded vocal talent was shaped early by luminaries such as Ellis Marsalis and James Booker. The crooner’s first public performance at age 5 led to his first jazz recording at age 10, and by 18, Connick had swapped the Big Easy for the Big Apple, where within a year he’d made his major-label recording debut with Columbia Records. Connick has enjoyed vast success on the jazz and pop charts – several multi-platinum and gold albums, plus Grammy, Tony and Emmy awards – and a growing roster of film, television and theater credits. The singer’s current tour carries him across the country and wraps up Sept. 28 in Portland, Oregon.
